Senator John Carona
What Globe Runner SEO accomplished for Texas State Senator John Carona
We met with Texas State Senator John Carona campaign team to talk about what they wanted to accomplish with their social media, and when they told us they wanted to increase their number of Facebook fans quickly, we decided a Facebook Ad campaign would be a prudent investment for them to start expanding their fan base and increase their visibility.
The Carona campaign had run Facebook Ads before with little effect, despite a healthy budget. Upon further review of their previous Facebook Ads, we recognized the need for a tighter path from the user seeing the ad to opting-in to the John Carona Campaign by “liking” their Facebook page. We also researched their key demographics and realized that some copywriting changes were in order as well, creating a clearer call to action. We redirected the ad campaign from pointing to their website to pointing directly to their Facebook page, which created a “like” button directly on the ad since we were linking to Facebook content rather than an external page. This, plus the re-written ad copy that clearly directed the interested user to opt-in to further communication via the “like” button delivered significant results for the client.
We began the ad campaign on October 15th and ran it until the 25th with half the daily spend they’d used on previous ads. In ten days, we added a little more than a thousand fans to their Facebook page, resulting in a 270% increase in fans and an average of 10x more page views than the average before the ad campaign. These are high-quality fans that weren’t already connected to the page- we wanted to reach a wider audience, extending farther than the original connections would allow. The numbers indicate that the ad campaign was a dramatic success- but what’s also important to note is that when the campaign ended, the growth slowed, but the number of total fans has remained steady- this wasn’t a sudden rush of the curious, these new fans were truly interested in the Carona message and might have a difficult time finding his fan page without actively searching for it, were it not for the ad campaign.
